Carolyn T Ceramics
Carolyn works with porcelain in her London studio, throwing and casting vessels varying in shape and scale. Each piece is hand decorated using a tissue transfer technique before glazing and final kiln firing. The words and drawing that adorn the surface of Carolyns vessels combine to tell a story, sometimes autobiographical sometimes observational. Collections of stories and images, are carefully transferred onto tissue paper and then rearranged to both hide and change the meaning. Words and images may be picked out hinting at the narrative, others combining to create pattern instead. The final effect draws reference to traditional Chinese and Japanese blue and white ware and colour is central to the work. Each piece is created within a group but can also stand alone or collected over time..
